Malaysia, which is located in a tropical region characterized by a warm and humid environment is a great habitat for the growth of edible macrofungi such as oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sp.), split gill mushroom (Schizophyllum commune), mound mushroom (Termitomycetes sp.), shiitake (Lentinula edodes), paddy straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea), bracket fungi (Ganoderma spp.) and Jew’s ear mushroom or locally called as monkey’s ear mushroom (Auricularia sp.).
