In this section, the results based on the quasi threedimensional
model for the screw configuration and input
data of Karwe and Jaluria [19] are presented. It is important
to note that the screw surface temperature in the comparisons
is the integrated average over x at the screw surface
part (b) of Figs. 5–9. The input data used are that for a typical
non-Newtonian fluid (LDPE) following power-law behavior
having n ¼ 0:5. The results have been obtained for G ¼
10:0; Pe ¼ 5000:0; b ¼ 1:61; qv¼ 0:3; j ¼16:54; kf ¼ 0:3
W=mK, ks (for steel) ¼ 45 W/mK. A typical W/H equal to 5
[32,33] has been used in this study [31,32].
