• Edema
– is caused by excessive fluids from circulatory system
accumulating in tissues of body.
– normal response to an injury >> temporary swelling or a problem with heart or circulatory system >> long term swelling.
• Lymphedema
– is caused by excessive lymphatic fluids in an area of body.
– lymphatic system is impaired
– infection or slow healing.
• Lipedema
– affects primarily women and may be associated with
genetics and hormones
– enlarged legs and buttocks as fat is abnormally deposited in layer below skin
• Lymphadenopathy
– affected in an infectious disease depends on location, nature of invading organism, and severity
