Ethylene production was determined during fruit storage. As
shown in Fig. 4A, ethylene production was highest in melatonin-
treated fruits at 17 DAT, whereas the climacteric peak
of CK appeared at 19 DAT. The climacteric peak of 50 μM
melatonin-treated fruit was higher, and the production of
ethylene was increased by 27.1% in the peak when compared
with CK. Our data indicate that melatonin enhanced ethylene
production, and affected the timing of the climacteric peak.
