Padmasambhava is also considered to be the founder of the oldest lineage of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet, known as Nyingma. There are three other main lineages besides Nyingma (Sakya, Kagyu, Gelug).
Nyingma followers especially believe in the hidden terma, or Buddhist scriptures.
In addition to Tibet itself, Padmasambhava is worshiped in the country of Bhutan, such as at Paro Tasktsang (“Tiger’s Nest Monastery”), which is built on the side of a cliff.
