Introduction
The College of Business and Economics is the premier college of its kind in the nation. Its genesis can be traced back to the establishment of a commerce major at Chosun Christian College in March 1915, making it the oldest business school in Korea. The Department of Commerce became the Department of Economics in 1946, when Yonhi University was elevated to the status of a comprehensive institution of higher learning, and in 1950 the College of Business and Economics was formally established. The College had been comprised of Economics, Business Administration (est. 1958), and Applied Statistics (est. 1967). In 2003 the College discontinued the Department of Business Administration, which subsequently became the School of Business. Two affiliated research institutes, Yonsei Economic Institute (est. 1994) and Yonsei Institute of Statistics (est. 2004), are in operation under the aegis of the College.
Currently 1,168 undergraduate and 100 graduate students are studying in the College. Its graduates have had remarkable success in the public and private sectors, in government ministries and agencies, as certified public accountants, and as researchers and scholars.
The College's goal is to educate qualified professionals with global competitiveness who are fully prepared to meet the demands in an integrated and information-accelerated world.
