such as EDI should not lead us to think that
forward buying will necessarily diminish. For
almost all the companies surveyed, EDI mainly
makes it possible to introduce automatic replenishment
procedures from the regional distribution
centres to the stores. Through these procedures
they hope to improve significantly the level
of service perceived by consumers[22]. On the
other hand, EDI is not systematically used to
communicate their sale volumes in real time to
the connected suppliers.
