From overall results, we found three plant growthpromoting traits e i.e. antagonism to fungal plant pathogens,
antifungal volatile compound production and a moderate
level of IAA production (4.9 mg gÀ1 DCW) e in Torulaspora globosa DMKU-RP31, whereas Rhodotorula paludigenum DMKURP301 showed a much higher IAA production (29.3 mg gÀ1
DCW) with some production of siderophore as an additional
character. We therefore propose that T. globosa DMKU-RP31
might be used in two ways: enhancing plant growth and acting as a biocontrol agent. However, we also found high levels
of IAA production (7.2e9.7 mg gÀ1 DCW) in four Cryptococcus
flavus strains, accompanied with NH3 production as well as
CMCase activity. These yeasts are also strains of interest for
optimal IAA production.
