The same pattern is replicated in relation to employee appraisal practices, with British hotels not substantially likely to have appraisal programmers, although 65% claimed to appraise employees at least every 2 years. The comparable figure for Bulgarian respondents was substantially lower and while nearly half claimed to appraise employees regularly, at intervals ranging between 1 and 2 years, the notion of employee appraisal was foreign to most of the Bulgarian managers interviewed.
