From a technological point of view, there are many ways of promoting
knowledge sharing within the organization. The installation of an application
such as Lotus Notes is one example. This should of course be accompanied
by the proper training of the staff in the use of this application software.
In addition to the provision of the necessary technological infrastructure,
management techniques such as an annual personnel performance evaluation
that takes into consideration the staff member’s contribution to knowledge
sharing can be of benefit in promoting the sharing and use of knowledge.
Financial incentive schemes that reward active and positive participation in
the organization’s knowledge management system have also been found
useful in promoting knowledge sharing.
