Taken together, these three scanners effectively define a new generation of portables. They all dare to be a little bigger and heavier than earlier-generation models, but they deliver faster speed than the previous generation as well as duplexing (the ability to scan both sides of a page at once). The Scanjet 1000's lack of an ADF makes it less capable than the others in some ways, but if most of what you expect to scan on the road are one- and two-page documents, not having an ADF may be worth the savings in size and weight.
