Father’s Day in Thailand is on 5th December which is to commemorate and celebrate the auspicious birthday of our King, His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej or the King Rama IX of the Chakri Dynasty. Every year during the month of December, Thai households and public places will be decorated with lights, colorful decorative items, and portraits of the most beloved King of Thailand in celebration of the day of His birth.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej is regarded as the father to all Thai people, thus his auspicious birthday is also celebrated as Father’s Day and observed as a Thai national holiday.
In the morning, an alms-giving ceremony will be held followed by countrywide candle-lighting ceremony and fireworks displays in the evening. It is also considered as Father’s Day of the entire nation and celebrated everywhere.
