A final limitation of this study is the fact that, owing to planning constraints and organizational reasons, the heartbeat perception and SPSs tasks were separated by a period of 1 to 3 weeks. The authors are not aware of any studies about the long-term outcome of interrelations between interoceptive tasks, but the broad intra-individual variability known to characterize cardiac sensitivity [7] may suggest that correlations between two tasks may be weaker if they are separated by several weeks. This is why we wonder whether delaying participation in the second task could have any impact on the relationship between the tasks. Despite the interval between the two tasks, there appear to be reliable links between SPSs and heartbeat perception. This is a sign that the relationship is a strong one. Future research should assess the time course of such relationships.
