Organic Rankine Cycle is a heat engine designed to convert heat to energy (work). ORC systems use ‘free heat,’ ‘waste heat’ or ‘unusable heat’ and convert it to electricity. ORC uses an organic working fluid (hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon) to recover heat from lower temperature sources (60-350°C). Available ORC Systems range from 5KWe to 30MWe.
ORC is a non-superheating thermodynamic cycle that uses an organic working fluid to generate electricity. ORC systems provide global warming benefits, as the power generated is CO2 free.
