Crisis management team as mentioned earlier is vital in not only the development of the crisis management plan, but they are irreplaceable members to the implementation process. Since the time is of a shortage, and it is important for them to respond immediately and almost instantly to ensure that the damages are limited. People’s lives are stake in the case of airline crisis, especially when it comes to onboard disturbances or on-board hijacking, fire, explosion and etc. therefore, as a crisis management team, they should be on-site or at headquarters at a round-the-clock hour (not all, but some members taking shifts) and during a crisis, all members should be notified and have to arrive at work to ensure that they all can brainstorm the problem and come to potential solution within a very short-timeframe. Although, the initial anticipation in the implementation process is that they have protocols for each crisis, therefore, it is important for the first segment – the headquarters team – to make the primary decisions on what actions to be taken, which the to-go team would ensure. They need to work hand in hand and very systematically to make sure that the crisis is being solved as quickly and swiftly as possible. Every second counts therefore the team needs to make sure that what they implement is the best possible solution.
Another important aspect of our crisis management team is that the implementation is not only done based on protocol but also through improvising, therefore the members have to be very good at critical thinking and working under strong pressure. They need to manipulate and adjust each protocol to meet the requirement of each individual crisis. They are more aware that each crisis is subjective and not all protocols answer the solutions to the crisis at all given times, and therefore they should be able to manipulate and adjust their plans during the implementation process to ensure it is the best possible solution to minimize damage and maximize safety.
