Summary of work performance
During 4 months I have been a part of EVA Airways. As the lounge attendant, what I have learned and gained from work experiences are totally different from college life. This has given me a chance to explore a variety of roles, allowing me to develop valuable skills and strengthen existing skills that most employees look for, such as interpersonal skills to deal with unexpected situations, problem-solving in high-pressure work environment, as well as ability to encounter different types of people both colleagues and air passengers.
Besides, I have gained an in depth knowledge about airline management,
passenger handling services including passenger and baggage check-in, gate and boarding, and work system in the organization. Especially I had an opportunity to use Amadeus Program fundamentally used for flight and passenger management in the airline industry, which I could proudly tell that I was so lucky to learn on how to use it in basic knowledge from my senior staff that might be useful in my future career in this field. The most important thing required to fulfill my duty would be customer service skills. In short, I worked directly with passengers, so it was crucial that I must be confident and responsible for, which in practice these things cannot be taught in classrooms. Even though I used to study about service psychology and tourist behavior related to tourism management, these subject have taught me how to provide excellent services and how to deal with a diversity of passenger behavior to achieve the customer satisfaction, but working life is widely different from studying in classes.
Lastly I would like to give a piece of advice that Amadeus Program should be provided to help fulfill student basic needs to be a good starting point for effective internship program.
