The advantages of age-scaled scores are first, they enable the examiner to appraise an individual’s performance in relation to persons of his own age as well as to the main reference group; second, in comparing test with retest performance they enable one to infer change in test performance apart from normal variations with age; third, deviation scores derived from the scaled scores do not need to be further corrected or equated for age.
