Infrared Wireless Systems
Short-range applications: remote control, data transfers between computers, digital cameras and other mobile devices
Each device in the IR systems consists of
Emitter that transmits a signal, e.g., laser diode or light emitting diode (LED) and
Detector that receives the signal
The systems send data by the intensity of the light wave (instead of ON or OFF signals).
To send a 1, emitter increases the intensity of electrical current and thus the intensity of the infrared light, indicating a pulse.
Detector senses the higher intensity pulse of light and
produces a proportional electrical current
