Another study observed decreased weight gain
and even death in male rats starting at a dose of 600
mg/kg daily. As doses reached 1,200-2,400 mg/kg/day,
surviving male rats developed rough hair coats, lethargy,
and excessive lacrimation. Nephropathy was noted in all
male rats at the end of the study. In the case of mice,
decreased body weight gain, lethargy, and rough hair
coats were observed in male mice given the two highest
doses of d-limonene (1,000 and 2,000 mg/kg daily).
No other compound-related signs of toxicity or lesions
were noted
