: The Prime Minister has clarified that the single gateway project is still in the feasibility study phase, with an objective of maintaining internet security.
The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has said regarding the government's single gateway project, that the project is currently undergoing the feasibility study process. Thailand will study the possibilities of the project with the neighbouring countries to ensure the safety of investing in the plan.
He said the government remains undecided whether o proceed with the single gateway model as of yet. The current order is for the related agencies to find a suitable solution to enhance national internet security, with human rights being one of the factors under close consideration. He added that the general public have nothing to panic about on this matter.
The Prime Minister asserts that this issue had worried him during his attendance at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City, and stressed that the decision for the government whether to proceed with the single gateway project will depends on the result of study, which will then have to be approved by the Cabinet. He assures that public opinion will be taken into the consideration account.
