3.3.3. Fracture morphology
Typical fracture surfaces of the as-cast specimens of the steels
are shown inFig. 12(a), in which the fracture surfaces clearly reveal the transgranular cleavage and river patterns, indicating that
a brittle fracture mechanism is dominant in the steels. When the Ti
content was 0.46 wt%, the larger inclusions appearing on the
fracture surface were identified as complex TiN–Al2O3precipitates
by SEM and EDS, as shown inFig. 12(b)–(d).
