At present, the study abroad and the practice of SEA
on waste disposal are also very rare, with the exception of
the existing practice in the Netherlands. The Netherlands
adopted the strategic environmental assessment method in
the first and second 10 years of national waste management
plan (national level of the SEA; Ministry of Environmental
Protection of the People’s Republic of China
2005). Research in Japan is also underway to study the
necessity and feasibility of the introduction of SEA in the
waste treatment. Research also aimed to discuss technical
methods and procedures, to discuss the national waste
disposal plan, the general municipal waste management
planning, and individual municipal waste treatment facilities
of the overall planning, to enumerate varieties of
programs, to evaluate selected projects, and to conduct
comparative analysis (SEA Study 2001; Ken 2005; Pacific
Consultant; Udagawa 2001). Austria and Ireland also applied
the SEA to the waste management system (Desmond 2009;
Salhofer and Wassermann 2007).
