These results were in accordance with the studies of
Kacˇura´kova´ and Mathoulthi (1996), where it was shown that
the general profiles of the infrared spectra (1800–900 cmK1) of
mono- and oligosaccharides in aqueous solution are comparable
in a concentration range between 10 and 70%. In order to
see if this spectral characteristic can be retrieved even when the
samples were measured dissolved in water, a second set of
experiments was done with the same samples in water solution.
