JOB SUMMARY
A Chief Steward will ensure the back-of-house team has the knowledge and skills required to maintain hotel equipment and the cleanliness and sanitation of food service outlets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Chief Steward, you will be responsible for managing the Stewarding team to ensure a well-run food and beverage back-of-house operation. This includes the proper maintenance of all operating equipment, compliance with food hygiene and safety standards, and compliance with environmentally-friendly initiatives. Specifically, a Chief steward will perform the following tasks to the highest standards
Ensure that department staffing, equipment, and supplies are at level that meets demand
Ensure the flow and supply of operating equipment meets bar, banqueting and restaurant requirements
Oversee the cleanliness of all food and beverage outlets and the Team Restaurant
Ensure the Stewarding Team has full knowledge and understanding of compliance regulations as they effect sanitation and hygiene, as set by internal and local legal requirements
Identify and develop new revenue opportunities
Work with the banqueting functions to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of individual plates/orders
QUALIFICATIONS
A Chief Steward is always working on behalf of the hotel and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow;
A high school certificate or equivalent and any other related qualifications, preferred
A minimum of one year of previous experience working within a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively manage workloads, meet deadlines, assess priorities, and manage multiple tasks
Ability to work autonomously
Demonstrated experience managing projects and working within financial budgets
A passion for building excellent relationships with colleagues
