Evolutionary shifts to bird pollination (ornithophily) have
occurred independently in many lineages of flowering
plants. This shift affects many floral features, particularly
those responsible for the attraction of birds, deterrence
of illegitimate flower visitors (particularly bees), protection
from vigorous foraging by birds,
