Two methods were used for DNA extraction
depending on the matrix. Phenol–Chloroform method was applied
for fresh animal tissue while Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide
(CTAB) method was used specifically for food matrix. For the first one, genomic DNA was extracted from 30 mg of muscle in fresh
and frozen samples, according to the method described by Bilton
and Jaarola with slight modifications (Bilton & Jaarola, 1996).
