Rumen microbiome plays a key role in rumen feed fermentation,
methane production and, nitrogen utilization. Its activity directly affects
ruminant performance, health, and welfare, but it is still poorly understood.
Rumen microbial populations are highly dynamic and are able
to adapt to a wide range of nutritional strategies or host physiological
status so it is often difficult to understand the interactions between dietary
components and rumen microbial populations.
