11.1 Heating of transformers
[Basic requirements]
The windings of transformers shall not exceed the temperature rise specified in the applicable public standards when the transformers are operated at the maximum load conditions under which they will be used when they are incorporated in equipment, in order to prevent smoke emission, ignition and fire hazards.
[Design standards]
Same as the Basic requirements mentioned above.
Note 1: The "maximum load conditions under which they (transformers) will be used when they are incorporated in equipment" shall be established with due consideration given to the ambient temperature, humidity, input voltage, load, dust, dirt and other factors.
Note 2: The relevant competent safety standards are, in general, IEC 60085 (Electrical insulation - thermal evaluation and designation).

Compliance is determined by conducting the temperature rise test.
