5.1b(2) SF’s strategic action plans (Figure 2.2-2) stipulate the
work to be done and include specific skills targeted for development.
Current employees and volunteers are given the opportunity
for training in the areas of need, and recruitment efforts target
other specialized capabilities. SF’s LDP is open to its employees
and volunteers, representatives from member agencies (see Figure
7.1-12), and representatives from other area nonprofit organizations
to develop a pool of individuals with experience in nonprofit
management. Employees are the glue that holds operations together.
They receive training and support that go beyond covering
technical requirements to building skills in communication, teambuilding,
providing effective feedback, planning, and coordinating.
