Performing this task requires both discrimination and association skills concerning food items. It can also serve to enhance social skills and could later evolve toward beginning money-use skills. For some students, this task may be considered nonapplicable due to the lack of a reasonable opportunity. For many students, how- ever, the use of a cafeteria line is a part of frequent mealtime activities. As with most teaching, the real place offers the best opportunity for learning, although a mock-up in a classroom could be used.
