Melatonin is a very interesting hormone but it is certainly not an aphrodisiac. It has great potential as a wonder drug in promoting health.
Melatonin is a hormone found in every living thing on Earth, both plant and animal. Melatonin, like insulin, is but one of the many hormones produced in our body. Melatonin is secreted by the pineal gland which is located at the centre of our brain. The level of melatonin in the blood varies with age: it peaks in early childhood and declines rapidly after adolescence. Levels are very low at age 45 and almost undetectable after 55.
