Primary Purpose:
Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Piping Engineer involves working with the team of piping engineers and technicians on the piping engineering design of power generation plants. The primary responsibilities would include as follows:
• Performs equipment lay-out, plant arrangement and piping general arrangement
• Supervises the preparation of piping isometric drawings, 2-D and 3-D plant models, plant arrangement drawings, piping detailed drawings and project specific detailed sheets using electronic tools including Microstation/Bentley, Isogen, and Black & Veatch proprietary software packages.
• Reviews the engineering work of assigned designers and technicians to ensure all work is performed in accordance with Black & Veatch quality control requirements, applicable engineering codes and standards, and specific project requirements.
• Reviews manufacturer's drawings for conformance with Black & Veatch design criteria and specific project requirements.
• Coordinates piping and pipe support engineering design work with other design group personnel to ensure that all design work is consistent.
• Performs detailed engineering design of pipe supports and hangers, including computerized model analysis of the piping system designs.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related disciplines from a recognized accredited university.
• Minimum 3 year of experience in piping engineering design for power, industrial or petrochemical plants.
• Good knowledge of ANSI/ASME Codes.
• Experience in pipe support design and pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Microstation/Bentley design procedures. Experience in using 3-D modeling design software is an advantage.
• Good command of English.
• Flexibility to travel
