The peak at 888 cm1 in the spectra of the CNFs samples and
absent from the spectrum of the bran referred to typical cellulose
structures, as reported by Alemdar and Sain (2008). Meanwhile, the
band at 840 cm1 in the spectrum of the bran corresponded to aromatic
ring CeH groups in the lignin (Marcovich, Reboredo, &
Aranguren, 1996). This band did not exist in the spectrum of the
CNFs samples, confirming lignin removal. These results allowed to
state that both CT and ET effectively removed the amorphous components
from the structure of the bran and permitted CNFs isolation.
