ORGANISERS IN YOUR COUNTRY
• Facilitate the selection of child representatives by
encouraging peer selection.
• Facilitate the selection of chaperons and provide
relevant training for them.
• Brief the children, chaperons and parents/ guardians
about the event
• Provide a child protection briefing for the selected
chaperon/s and children.
• Organise all logistical arrangements for the trip.
• Support the children and chaperons with the preparations for the event.
• Coordinate with event organisers at the international level and respond to various requests related to preparations.
• Discuss and provide any other assistance upon request and within reasonable scope.
ORGANISERS AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
• Coordinate with the country level organisers and timely provide information and required documents to facilitate the preparatory work.
• Organising the event by identifying facilitators, venue, child protection team, medical support and other required services.
• Provide onsite support to children, chaperons and facilitators.
• Facilitate logistical support requirements during the event.
CHILD PROTECTION TEAM
Child Protection Team consists of Child protection Focal Points (CPFPs), who will be your first point of contact for any child protection concerns and related support. They will take appropriate actions prioritising the protection needs of children. The key responsibilities of the CPFPs include:
• Assessing child protection risks and introducing necessary protective measures throughout the event.
• Identifying local systems and resources for child protection in advance and ensuring that response to any child protection issues, concerns and emergencies are provided timely and effectively.
• Briefing all staff and delegates of their child protection responsibilities and supportive arrangements that have been made for child protection during the meeting.
• Inform everyone of the Code of Conduct that needs to be respected, as well as of the reporting mechanisms in case of child protection concerns.
• Ensures that the confidentiality of all personal information about a child is fully respected.
• Take lead responsibility for organising media interactions and leisure activities for children.
• Ensure and monitor that all children are supported and have opportunity to participate in activities.
SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Participation of children who are marginalised and discriminated against on different grounds is regularly encouraged in different consultative processes and events. There might be instances when you are entrusted with supporting a child with special needs, based on different abilities or specific living conditions they are coming from. In such situations, you will need to have relevant skills and experience and will be supported by
