In the case of 0.1 N HCl as solvent, the erosion patterns of all three
formulations were almost similar to that in distilled water. However,
the erosion kinetics of KCL formulation was quite low in the acidic
solvent. Kollidon CL is an insoluble polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer and
is able to swell in a predictable manner without forming gel. This property makes it unique for use as a super disintegrant. It swells rapidly in
distilled water or isotonic salt solution and hardly swells in acidic solution like 0.1 N HCl, and hence the major reason for low erosion of KCL
containing tablets
