SARABURI: A taxi driver has returned almost 2 million baht to an Indonesian passenger who left his bag in the cab, police said yesterday.
Sak Chaiyapong, 44, of Nonthaburi’s Bang Bua Thong district, showed up at Saraburi’s Muang police station about 10.30pm on Wednesday to hand in a bag containing US dollars worth almost 2 million baht to Pol Lt Seksan Udomsap, police said.
The 44-year-old taxi driver said the money belonged to one of three Indonesian passengers who had left it on the back seat after he took them from Suvarnabhumi airport to Charoen Krung Soi 30 in Bangkok on Wednesday night.
Mr Sak only realised he still had the bag when he was contacted by Suvarnabhumi’s passenger-service section and told that a foreign passenger had left his bag in his taxi.
Iwan Nuhsaleh, 49, an Indonesian jewellery trader, arrived at Saraburi station at 2.30am yesterday to claim his money. He said he planned to buy gems in Chanthaburi with the cash.
He gave the driver a cash reward of 5,000 baht.
