3.4.2. Unfriendly instruments and equipment
Most respondents indicated there are many issues with telecare equipment including inaccuracy, and system failures and operational difficulties, which are often complained about by the physicians and the public. The systems are of poor resolution, measured data are unanalyze, and the instruments are not calibrated, tested, or verified. All of the issues also result in physicians’ distrust toward the quality of these instruments. Respondents also pointed out that the operating interface of the instruments does not meet the different levels of user needs of the elderly. Some old people are reluctant to use the instrument due to the troubles with the system, or due to their inability to use the instrument because of their limited under- standing of computers and the internet. The case managers need to call patients to acquire measured data for those cases without automatic data transmission, and need to re-enter the data into computers, therefore leading to extra workload.
