Introduction
Mangosteen, Garcinia mangostana L., is a tropical fruit that is grown in hot, humid
climates of Southeast Asia. Today, it has been found that mangosteen contain the compounds
known as prenalated xanthone [1,2]. Previous works have suggested that xanthones have
anti-cancer effects in test tube study. The molecular structures of prenylated xanthones can be
identified using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Its observation can lead to
precious information about molecular geometries.
