Cementifying fibroma
It is a tumour containing fibroblastic tissue generally seen in young adults and middle aged men. It commonly occursin the lower jaw. The slow but persistent growth of the tumour may ultimately produce expansion of the cortical plates of the lower jaw resulting inperforation rarely.
Radiographic features:
The tumour appears in the radiograph as a well defined single or multiple radiolucent cavities with a well demarcated border. They present variable appearance, as they mature. The cementifying fibroma has bony islands within the tumour that are round or spheroid in shape. It can cause displacement of the involved tooth and sometimes resorption of the adjacent teeth.
Treatment:
The successful treatment is accomplished by surgical removal and curettage. It can be separated easily from the bone.
