“Ah!”
“[Name]! Watch out!”
You land squarely on your face.
Your boyfriend runs up to you. “Honestly, what am I supposed to do with you? Are you alright?”
He helps you get up. You feel tears forming. “I’m okay.” You sniffled.
Kirino picks you up and brings you over to sit down. “[Name], how did you fall down the stairs?”
“I missed a step.”
Kirino sighs. “Well, at least you’re not seriously hurt.” He examines your forehead, then your other limbs.
“Kirino, you should forget about me. Everyone is practicing without you.”
Kirino wipes a tear away from your cheek. “I’m not going to leave you, [Name].”
“But your practice-”
“You’re more important. I’ll take care of your bruises first.”
You sit quietly as you watch him bandage your cuts. “There, done.”
“Kirino,” You start quietly. “I’m sorry.”
“Sorry?”
“I made you worry because of my clumsiness, and you ended up wasting practice time because of me.” Your held back tears began to run down. “It’s all my fault.”
You hang your head in shame, failing to see Kirino smiling at you. “[Name], you’re criticizing yourself far too much. I’d rather have you safe and happy.”
This time, you look up. “Really?”
He hands you a tissue. “Yes, really.” He lays a light kiss on your cheek. “I’ll start practice now. Be careful next time, okay?”
Kirino runs towards the field, automatically joining into the practice match, leaving you to reminisce about what previously happened.
Maybe, falling down next time won’t be that bad.
