3.1) THEFT OF HARDWARE
Hardware theft can range from shoplifting an accessory in a computer store to removing a laptop or cellular phone from someone’s car. Professional criminals may steal shipments of microprocessor chips
off a loading dock, steal desktop computers, laptops, and other devices for their parts, or even pry cash machines out of shopping-center walls. You can make hardware theft of your electronic items harder by following some guidelines:
• Never leave the devices unattended.
• Do not use obvious or flashy carrying cases on public transportation.
• Do not publicly show off items.
• Lock devices so that others cannot activate them.
• Secure their storage area (laptops should always be equipped with security cables and locked away when not in use).
• Use log-in passwords on all your devices.
