1. INTRODUCTION
Logistics Park refers to the area where various logistics
facilities and different types of logistics enterprises are
located intensively[1]. Currently, a great number of
Logistics Parks are built or being built around
metropolitan or transport hubs in China, however, lots
of them are in low operational efficiency, due to
unreasonable functional design or poor information
platform and so on [2]. So it is very urgent to
understand the interrelationships among the logistics
functions and the information flow by modeling and
functional design of Logistics Park. In order to visually
present the functions of the park and the information
flow about the relations among them, a comprehensive
modeling tool, IDEF0 is used. It orderly breaks down
the complex Logistics Park system into constituent parts
through hierarchical series of diagrams, from which not
only can we get complete understanding the functions of
Logistics Park, but also the detail about inputs, outputs,
required conditions and related implementers of
logistics activities and functions in each layer. Besides,
these IDEF0 diagrams can be further used as the basis
for the development and design of Logistics Park
management information system (MIS).
Modeling and functional design of Logistics Park
makes other works of Logistics Park programming
much easier, like logistics facility planning and process
design, and it also offers help to improve efficiency of
logistics operation and management.
