The fruits were then stored at 25± 2 oC in 1.6 L
respiratory jars flushed with an air stream of 18 L.h-1
containing 45-50% relative humidity (high vapor
pressure deficit, LVPD) until reaching 5, 10, 15 and
20% of initial fresh matter loss. In another set of
assays the fruits were afterwards transferred to
identical flasks flown with air containing 90-95%
relative humidity as to mimic the control conditions
(low vapor pressure deficit, LVPD), where they
remained until the experiment conclusion
