In this work, we prepared anatase sols at low
temperature by hydrolyzing titanium-n-butoxide
(Ti(OBu)4) and aging the hydrolyzed precipitates
in abundant acidic aqueous solution. TiO2 thin
films were deposited from the resulting sol at room
temperature by a dip-coating process. The influences
of the acidity of aqueous solution on
crystallinity, morphology, and size of the obtained
sol particles were investigated. In addition, we
investigated the photocatalytic activities of the
TiO2 thin films in a liquid–solid system using
reactive brilliant dye X-3B as a model compound.
