composed of 58% cellulose, 21.1% hemicelluloses, 8.8% lignin, 8.9%
extractives, and 3.2% ash [18]. The optimal pH and temperature for
alkali-pretreated EFBs (5%) by Penicillium sp. TG2 cellulolytic enzymes
(10 FPU/g solid) were determined as pH 5.0 and 50 C
(Fig. 6).
The hydrolysis yields of alkali-pretreated EFBs was remarkably
increased by use of higher amounts of enzyme activity, showing
7.4% and 40% hydrolysis yield of cellulose and hemicellulose with
15 FPU/g solid and 9.4% and 46.3% with 20 FPU/g solid, respectively
(Fig. 7).
