Dear colleagues,
In April 2016, DKSH concluded its first Group-wide employee engagement survey, Your Voice, Our Future! The purpose of this survey was to obtain valuable feedback from a sample selection of our employee base Group-wide on the quality of our work environment, leadership, organizational transformation, company culture and other significant matters of workplace effectiveness within DKSH.
Across the Group, 78 percent of employees who were invited responded to the survey. Our Group employee engagement result stands at 74 percent which is on par with other global organizations surveyed. This indicates that most of our employees are proud and committed to the success of DKSH.
In general, the survey results show the following key strengths:
· There is a strong perceived understanding of the strategy and direction of the company. Many understand how the strategies of our Business Units and Functions are connected to the overall DKSH strategy
· There is also a perception of strong accountability to deliver on what we have promised and employees have clarity on what we are responsible for
· Many feel that we are knowledgeable about what our clients and customers as well as internal stakeholders need and are constantly looking for new opportunities to grow our business
The survey also reveals some potential for improvement:
· There is strong indication that we want clear and consistent communication on matters and changes affecting us, both on a personal and organizational level
· Our employees recognize the importance of not being held up by unnecessary bureaucracy and finding the right balance between governance and rules and processes
· There is a strong need to experience more meaningful conversations with superiors around career development and be informed about available career opportunities. Our employees also want to experience more non-monetary recognition for their contribution and accomplishments
In response, the Senior Executive Team is committed to focus on three key focus action areas which will be adopted across all Business Units and Functions, globally and locally:
1. Strengthen the way we communicate to employees and address the need for clear, consistent, timely and relevant communications on matters affecting them.
2. Further dive into what employees feel is hindering their speed in decision-making and what they consider unnecessary bureaucracy, rules and procedures; address key challenges related to collaboration within and across Business Units and Functions.
3. Build a culture of recognition to ensure well-deserving employees feel appreciated beyond monetary rewards; this includes reinforcing meaningful career development dialogues between superiors and direct reports.
In the upcoming weeks, country survey results will be progressively communicated. For questions related to the Group-wide survey results, kindly send your queries to mailto:yourvoiceourfuture@dksh.com
Best regards,
