The phrase profitable Internet Company is a contradiction in terms. But is Internet business really that bad? During the short-lived glory day of dot-coms, venture predicted that they would soon take over and make over the business world. But of course big shakeout in 2000 and 2001 sent most of the upstarts packing.
A closer look reveals, however, that the survivors are holding up pretty well. In face, many are starting to show nice profits. In the travel sector, Expedia, Hotels.com, and Priceline are making money. Now fewer than 10 public finance companies are now profitable, with firms such as E-Trade performing quite well.
