Garcinia mangostana Linn (mangosteen),is famed as the ‘Queen of tropical fruit’ because it is one of the best tasting fruits in the world. Much research has revealed that the red pigment from the fruit hulls of mangosteen can be used as a natural dye source for dyeing since there are less toxic and allergenic. this seminar dyeing cotton, skill and wool yarn with extract of mangoteen.The first publication would be to dyeing using pulverized mangosteen hush and Sepang wood on cotton and silk .The dyeing experiments were carried out using alum mordant. The results revealed fair to Mangosteen produced light brownish-yellow shades, while the Sepang wood produced deep red shades. The second publication dyeing cotton, silk and wool yarn with extracts from the mangosteen by sonicator. the results revealed fair to Fe, Cu, and Cr are best suited mordants .the hue color ranged from camel brown to dark chocolate brown. The final publication extracted dye from the dried fruit hulls of mangosteen was used as a natural dye for the dyeing of cotton and silk yarn. The results showed that the dyeing of cotton using the post-mordanting method with FeSO4 and Ca(OH)]2 not only provided better depth of shade but also provided better wash fastness and light fastness than with other mordants.
