In order to answer the first two research questions, the team recorded the game and learning elements that emerged through the whole-class and group discussions, as well as children's individual evaluations of the games. For the third question, the author and the two curriculum/material development specialists first examined which game and learning elements (identified by the children during the first two lessons) were realized in each proposed game design. Any disagreements were resolved through discussion. Second, the children's evaluative comments in the peer- and self-evaluation sheets were coded based on which game and learning elements they believed to be important. Five sets of evaluative comments were randomly chosen and coded separately by the three researchers, and their results were compared. After coding disagreements were resolved through discussion, the author coded the rest of the students' comments.
