Microorganism and media
A culture of G. frondosa was isolated from a mountainous district in Korea. The stock culture was maintained on potato dextrose agar (PDA) slants. Unless otherwise mentioned, slants were incubated at 25 ◦C for 7 days and then stored at 4 ◦C. The seed cultures were grown in 250 ml flasks containing
50 ml of medium containing (g/l) 30 glucose, 6 yeast extract, 2 polypeptone, 0.5MgSO4•7H2O, 0.5K2HPO4, and 0.2MnSO4•5H2O at 25◦C on a rotary incubator at 120 rpm for 7 days.
